This month we are featuring a Charity event organized by Chris Williams of the Twin Cities XNA User Group, one of the new categories of User Groups that INETA has recognized this year.
IMHO, this event (the Charity Fragathon) crosses some new boundaries and ties into a tremendous recent trend of using our computer skills to help out the community. Who could ask for a better use for anybody's time then in wiping out your fellow computer geeks in Halo 3 while raising money for a really good cause.
So this is for charity? Yep, they're raising money for Children's Hospitals and Clinics of Minnesota. Magenic (one of their sponsors) has graciously committed to MATCH 100% of the first $3000 they raise.
So, kudos to you Chris, for organizing this first ever charity event for your Twin Cities XNA User Group.
For anybody who is interested in participating in this event, you can visit CharityFragathon.com Admission to this event is $10 (ten bucks!!) and that covers entry into what just might be the biggest Halo 3 tournament you've ever seen. They'll also have a room set aside for Rock Band 2 and of course XNA games for anyone who wants to check out the new Xbox Live Community Games.
Is that it? Nope, not even close. In addition to all this gaming goodness, they're going to give away some awesome prizes for the tournament winners and random stuff throughout the night. They'll also be providing pizza, sodas and BAWLS Energy Drink courtesy of their sponsors.
